Hello!

I’m Mae —the writer behind Cypress and Myrtle.

I love coffee, cosy corners, and late-night journaling —especially after the house is quiet and my two girls are finally asleep.

I started journaling when I began working, never expecting it to become such a faithful companion in my spiritual and emotional life. Those pages have carried reflections, prayers, doubts, and glimpses of grace through every season.

I studied veterinary medicine (yes, really!) but never practiced. I went on to pursue a Masters in Divinity to deepen my understanding of God and His Word, though I’m not in full-time ministry. Instead, I’ve spent the past 17 years in the corporate world—leading marketing in the health and wellness industry, where I’ve learned that calling doesn’t always look like a straight line.

I’m also a wife to a pastor and mom to two precious girls. Life hasn’t always followed a clear map—much of my journey has been shaped more by knowing what I don’t want than being certain of what I do. But through all the twists, I’ve found beauty in the in-betweens: where faith is tested, refined, and made real.

Cypress and Myrtle is where I share reflections, stories, and moments that remind us that God’s work doesn’t always come with bullet points.
